Vikette volleyball loses to Hawks, 3-0 in Regional Final

CEDAR FALLS - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette volleyball team (19-18) took on the West Delaware Hawks (40-5) at Cedar Falls High School for the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 3A Region 8 Championship match and defeated 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-8). This was their first Regional Championship match since 2007, when they lost to the Mount Vernon Mustangs.

Kate Hyland, Brynn Patterson, Aly Smith, and Sam Walton, the Vikette seniors, had been playing together since the 2011-12 school year, when they were in the second grade, now seniors in high school. Three of them play on the Cedar Rapids Surge 18u Volleybal
