Vikette volleyball defeats Knights in round one 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 27-25)

LA PORTE CITY - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball team took on the Union Knights in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 3A Region 8 quarterfinal at Union High School in La Porte City on Oct. 18 and defeated the Knights 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 27-25).

For the Vikettes junior Brylee Bruce had 27 assists (6.8 assists per set), senior Sam Walton had 12 kills (three kills per set and a .286 hitting percentage), junior Alyssa Griffith tallied seven blocks (1.8 blocks per set), Abby Davis tallied 19 digs (4.8 digs per set) and junior Brylee Bruce tallied 0.3 ace serves in 4.00 attempts.
