VINTON - Three seniors combined for 31 points Friday night as Coach Rich Haisman's Vikettes went to 3-0 on the year with a 50-44 win over West Delaware at the Garrison Fieldhouse.

The Vikettes led 11-6, but the Hawks managed to come back and take a 13-11 lead in the second period before V-S roared back to take a 21-18 lead into the half. After taking a 33-30 lead into the final eight minutes, West Delaware was able to tie the game at 38 with under five minutes to go. But a withering full-court press and some clutch free throw shooting down the stretch proved too much for the visitors as the Vikettes held on in their WaMaC opener.

Senior Kayla Griffith led the charge for the Vikettes with 13 points, while classmates Lucy Howes-VonStein dropped 10 and Aza Sawyzer, back off her ACL surgery from last year, added 8. Sophomore Abby Davis confounded the WD offense all night, and added 7 points along the way, Brylee Bruce chipped in with 6, and Sophia Kreutner, Ashlie Meyer, Kalie Burke added two each.

The Vikettes will return to the Fieldhouse next Tuesday night when they take on Dyersville Beckman in a JV/Varsity doubleheader beginning at 6:00 p.m. Live video will available on the Go Vikes YouTube channel.
