See Tuesday's pictures HERE!The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes closed out the regular season out in style as they celebrated Senior Night with a 62-48 win over Williamsburg at Garrison Fieldhouse.

Before the game, seniors Davia Herger, Kaitlin Meyer, Breanna Bean and Taryn Sutton (who was gone with an illness) were honored for their Vikette careers.

Coming of a tough 49-31 loss to Center Point-Urbana Friday night Coach Rich Haisman's Vikettes (11-10 on the season, 7-5 in the WaMaC West) blew open a tight game with huge fourth quarter push.

Williamsburg pulled out to a 14-6 lead with three minutes left in the first period, before rallying to cut the Raider lead to 16-13 before it went to 21-15 after one. The Vikettes tied the game at 21, but Williamsburg scored to eight straight, only to have V-S score eight straight of their own to tie the game at halftime 29-29.

The teams battled back and forth through the third and were tied at 43-all as the period came to a close, but a foul on Meyer's three-point try at the buzzer sent the senior to the line and she cooly dropped all three charity tosses to give the Vikettes a lead they would not relinquish. From there the home team outscored the Raiders 17-5 as the Vikettes closed out the night with the big win.

Kayla Griffith paced the Vikettes with 19 points, followed by Lucy Howes-Vonstein with 12, Meyer with a career-high 11, Alyssa Griffith with nine, Herger with eight, Abby Davis with two and Lexi Bunten with one.

The Vikettes will open 3A Regional tournament play Saturday at 5 p.m. as they travel to Solon to take on the Spartans (9-12). Solon defeated the Vikettes 51-47 back on December 6, and have lost five of their last seven games.

The winner of Saturday's game will travel to Monticello Wednesday night at 7 p.m. to meet the winner of Saturday's game between Mount Vernon (6-14) and Monticello (15-5). The Regional finals will be February 21 at 4 p.m. at Center Point-Urbana.
