Sports : Senior Night for VS wrestlers

The VS wrestling seniors and their parents received recognition Thursday night.

The Vinton-Shellsburg wrestling team celebrated Senior Night during its double dual with Solon and Williamsburg Thursday night. The team honored its three senior wrestlers: Ian Story, 135; Jake Hessenius, 140; and Logan Merchant, Heavyweight. Also honored was Amy Andrews, a senior who has been a wrestling manager for five seasons.

The Vikings began by defeating Solon, but ended their night losing to the Raiders, whose Heavyweight, Austin Blythe, is both a top-ranked wrestler and an Iowa Hawkeye football recruit. Williamsburg also defeated Solon in their dual.
