The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes got the new decade off to a great start Friday night, with a 61-25 rout of South Tama at the Garrison Fieldhouse.

Coach Rich Haisman's Vikettes (5-4 overall, 4-4 in the WaMaC)had things their own way all night against the Trojans, leading 20-4 after one and 38-17 at intermission.

Three Vikettes hit for double figures for the night, led by sophomore post Abby Bartz who hit for 14 points. Senior Taryn Sutton added 11 points and freshman Alyssa Griffith added 10. Lucy Howes-Vonstein added seven, Kaitlin Meyer, Davia Herger four apiece, Kyla Jeffery three, and Kayla Griffith, Abby Davis, Brylee Bruce and Kali Burke each had two.

The Vikettes will hit the road Tuesday night to take on Williamsburg before returning home next Friday to host Independence.
