7th Grade Vinton Shellsburg Girls compete in Cross Country Saturday in Atkins
The young Vinton-Shellsburg cross-country teams had a perfect day for a run in the Atkins woods Saturday and took advantage of it with a pair of top 10 finishes at the Benton Invitational
Paced by lone-senior Cameron Karr, the Vikings were 7th. Karr finished 25th overall with a time of 18:36.3.
The Vikettes were 9th, led by sophomore Charlee Johnson’s 36th place finish in 23:43.2. Sophia Dilley was close behind in 39th in a time of 23:52.8
The V-S cross country teams will be back at Tuesday, when they battle in the rugged 29-team Starmont Invitational. They return home a week from Tuesday when they host the Vinton-Shellsburg Invitational.
