"This is a rebuilding year for the girls team. We lost 5 or the 6 varsity members from last year yet we have several girls that are stepping up their games to contribute the this team. The VS boys team has been gaining strength over the last few rebuilding years. We have so much talent which makes a coaches job difficult to pick the 6 best at any given moment" said coach Amber Pattee.
The Prairie Tournament - Consisted of 5-1A Schools, 5-2A Schools, and 8-3A Schools. Vinton Shellsburg is a 1A school for bowling.
Girls - We were seated 14th for the tournament based off average and finished 11th. 3/4 of our bracket were in a higher class (2A and 3A) and 4 of our 6 wins were against 3A schools. It was a fun day for all the girls and they are starting to work as a team and gaining momentum.
Boys - We were seated 8th out of 18th and for the first time in VS Bowling, we qualified for the tournament portion after bowling over average. Our average for qualifying was 180.5 for 14 games. The boys pushed forward to the tournament round and averaged 194.5. They worked very well together and came out 3rd overall in the tournament out of 18 teams.

Ashe concluded by saying, "I can not say enough about these kids. One of our biggest rivals came to Berry's Lanes and we made a great showing and had alot of interteam fun as well. The girls teams were high-fiving each other after a good shot and at the end of the meet there was one girl from the West Delaware team that yelled "everybody clap their hands" out at the whole crowd. The crowd and team members all clapped. What a great way to end our first home meet this year."
