The Vinton-Shellsborg bowler who won the Class 1A state individual title with his best tournament performance ever (a two-game total of 513) has earned one more award.

Nick Stein was honored as the Top Male Bowler at the first ever All-Iowa Sports Banquet, organized by the Des Moines Register.

"Going to Des Moines for an All-Iowa Sport Awards banquet was a cool thing; being among the top three finalists was even cooler," said Nick. "I didn't know what to expect with other great athletes around me. I had no clue that I was going to be presented Top Male Bowler of the Year in Iowa, but it was a life-imprinting moment. After all my hard work from practice and staying determined, getting recognized felt great! If it wasn't for the supportive family, friends and community that I have, I couldn't have done it." All of the honorees had a chance to go back-stage for a private photo session with NFL QB Peyton Manning; former Iowa and NFL star Dallas Clark also participated. "Meeting Peyton Manning and having my picture taken with him was very humbling. He is a legend and a great guy. It was quite a bonus on top of an already fantastic evening," says Nick.
