The VS girls track team has also seen some records set this year.
The 4 X 800 team of Lily Horst, Grace Horst, Annika Schmidt and Bristi Gerber set a new VS school record with a time of 9:45.11, also at the Wamac Super Meet. Freshman Grace Horst also set a new VS record for the 1500M run with a time of 5:01.55, breaking her sister’s record. Lily also recently broke her own record in the 3000M
8th grade shot put record broken two times
An 8th grade Vikette also broke a school record – twice.
Lauren Upmeyer broke the VS Middle School record set by Monica Huelman Zaruba in 1992. At a meet at Clear Creek-Amana, Lauren’s toss was 32 feet, 3.75 inches, just 2.75 inches more than the previous record of 32 feet, 1 inch. Then at Friday’s Wamac Meet, Lauren broke the old record again, but not her new one, with a toss of 32 feet, 2 inches as she won first place, helping the 8th graders win the team title.
1992. Monica's was 32'1". Lauren's was 32'3 3/4". That was on May 2nd at CCA.
