Vinton-Shellsburg High School golf history was made this week when Olivia Walker became the second senior Vikette golfer to sign with a college team.

Walker joiner her parents, Okee and Randi, along with Vikette Coach Janet Woodhouse, for a signing ceremony on Thursday. She will study education at Central College in Pella and play golf for the Dutch.

Walker says she loved “everything” about the Central campus. She plans to become an elementary special education teacher, and has begun doing some intern work at Tilford.

A few weeks ago, Lauren Tandy signed her Letter of Intent to attend college and play golf for Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids.

This is the first time that Coach Woodhouse has had two seniors sign to play college in one season.

The Vikettes begin practice on Monday, and Tandy and Walker hope to lead their team to State in their final high school season.
