Vinton-Shellsburg's Maci Griffith scored her 1,000 high school basketball point Tuesday night during the home game vs. Clear Creek-Amana. Maci received a signed basketball from her coach and teammates, and the fans and cheerleaders held up signs proclaiming the milestone, as the game was briefly interrupted to mark the occasion.
Along with her family, Maci's track, soccer and softball coaches were also on hand to celebrate the milestone.
Maci is averaging more than 18 points a game for the Vikettes, and is the Wamac West's leading scorer. She is second among all Class 4A players in points per game, and 7th among all girls in Iowa in field goals made, with 87 before Tuesday's contest vs. CCA. The Vikings lost a close contest, 51-48.
