Sports : Vikings give '59 Wamac champs reason to cheer, win 38-35

As the Vinton Viking football players of 1959 gathered near the field before Friday's game between Vinton-Shellsburg and Maquoketa, someone asked one of the players from that team if he had any advice for the 2010 Vikings.

"They need to win," was the reply. "Or else a lot of people will be mad."

The Vikings fell behind early, 14-0, after an interception was returned for a touchdown to give Maqoketa an early lead. But they rallied to tie the game at 14 before coming back for the win.

The second straight come-from-behind win improves the Vikings to 2-1 on the season.
