It rained basically all day in Waverly and part of the time it was a downpour. I was so proud of my team. Last year we finished 8th place; this year we finished in fourth in team standings!

Lauren Tandy earned a place at State as an individual qualifier. She is a solid golfer with good skills, mental toughness and a competitive spirit. She also challenges herself to improve and puts in extra practice time. On the tougher back nine she shot 43, the lowest score of the day by anyone at Waverly on the back nine. She is very deserving of this honor.

Our team played solid golf in spite of the conditions. We shot 395 and improved our individual scores from our practice rounds. Our lone senior, Jessie Noren, played one of the best rounds of this season. Juniors Lauren Tandy, Kaiti Kilpatrick and freshman, Rachel Tandy, had solid scores to round out our team scores and we put together a 193 on the front nine. These girls have been major contributors all season. I was amazed at their scores considering how wet they were and continued to be! They never lost focus. Olivia Walker and Brandi Gerber played some good golf all season as well.

Lauren will play June 1 and 2 at Marshalltown with other 4A competitors on the American Legion Golf Course.
