It was a tough course and tough conditions, says Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf coach Janet Woodhouse. The Vikettes struggled, along with their competitors, against the cold, cloudy windy weather on a course that most had not played before. They did manage, however, to take second in the four-way meet.

This is a tough course to walk and is a challenge for golfers. There are lots of tree lined fairways, many sand bunkers around the greens and water to hit over. Throw in lousy weather conditions, and it makes for an interesting round of golf. Only Lauren Tandy and Kaiti Kilpatrick had previously played the Amana front nine. We would have liked to have scored better, however, most of our mistakes are correctable including poor putting. Olivia Walker had low putts with 18. This was the first loss of our season; we now stand 8 wins, 1 loss.

Thursday we will have a varsity and JV meet hosted by Benton Community at Tara Hills. Monday varsity will travel to Manchester to participate in the annual West Delaware Invitational.
