Sports : Wrestlers to welcome new Viking wrestling coach Locke at Tuesday potluck

James Locke works with younger wrestlers at a club clinic in 2013; his is the new VHSH coach.

The Vinton-Shellsburg Wrestling Club is hosting a potluck on Tuesday, November 25 at 6:00 in the Tilford Lunchroom to get to know our new head High School Wrestling Coach, James Locke. Former Viking wrestlers Hank Bratten and Phillip Miller will share the assistant head coach position.

All wrestling families are welcome to attend. Please bring your own table service, drink, and a dish or two to share. The club will provide BBQ pork and buns.

Locke, who wrestled in high school in Minnesota before earning All-American status on the Coe College wrestling team, has previously been a coach for the local club.

Superintendent Mary Jo Hainstock said the district has verbally offered the job to Locke, who has accepted. The school board will make his hiring official at its next meeting.
