Liz Hill's Lansing Kee softball team struggled at times in its Class 1A State semi-final game vs. AGWSR today, but held on for a 3-1 win. The Kee Hawks and Coach Hill will play for the State Championship at 10 a.m. on Friday in Fort Dodge.

The Kee Hawks committed three errors and pitcher Kendra Cooper allowed one earned run on five hits. But the defense held when it mattered, leaving nine Cougar runners stranded. And while just getting four hits, the Key offense managed to score three times.

Down by three in the seventh inning AGWSR loaded the bases and cut the lead to 1 with runners on second and third and just one out. But eighth-grade pitcher Kendra Cooper got the last two batters on a pop-up and ground ball. See a game summary HERE.

Now that Hill and her Kee Hawks have defeated second-ranked Lynnville-Sully and fourth-ranked AGWSR; they have the opportunity to face the 37-0 Akron-Westfield Westerners, the top-ranked team in Class 1A. The 2013 State Champions have lost just four games in the past three seasons.

Those interested in live coverage of the game tomorrow have a few options.

The game will be on IPTV and also the local radio station KNEI 1160 AM. Another radio station is 102.3 FM and greatriversnews.com has it streaming.
