Led by Lauren Tandy and Mara Jessen, the Vinton-Shellsburg girls golf team finished third in the Wamac West tournament. Tandy (48) and Jessen (49) were among the medalists for the event.

V-S ladies improved their overall win/loss record tonight by placing third at the Divisional meet. Improvement has been the key with this young team. We had consistency in putting across the board for the first time. All of our team members except for Ms. Tandy had played this course at our April dual, so there was a comfort level in understanding the layout. Our last outing at 3 Elms, the V-S team shot 226, so I was pleased with dropping 11 strokes tonight. Sophomore Olivia Ketchen dropped 12 strokes from her previous round here and was a varsity counter tonight; this was a first for her high school career. Both Mara Jessen and Olivia Walker also had lowered scores from their previous round at 3 Elms.
