It was a miserable night for golf on Thursday when cold (49 degrees), wet and windy weather canceled track meets throughout Iowa (including the planned V-S boys meet).
The Vikette golf team, however, turned in one of its best rounds of the season, defeating Clear Creek-Amana and Don Bosco by more than 30 strokes in a home triangular at the Vinton Country Club.
Sophomore Lauren Tandy earned her first-ever medalist award, leading all golfers with a 48.

We enjoyed hosting a meet on our home course where we again broke 200. We shot the four lowest individual scores tonight. Sophomore Lauren Tandy was medalist for the first time in her high school career, and sophomore Olivia Walker had her lowest competitive round. Mara Jessen and Olivia Walker tied with 19 for lowest putts. We were one stroke away from having “four in the forties,” one of our team goals. Our JV players are getting closer to scoring in the 50s with each meet.
Next week will find us Monday at Independence for the WAMAC West Divisional meet. Tuesday we will travel to Marion for a rescheduled meet and Thursday, May 8, we host Center Point-Urbana and Jesup in our last home meet.
