The V-S ladies scored their best round of the year tonight on the challenging Williamsburg course! (It has over 30 sand traps.) We broke 200 for the first time as a team and we came closer to having “four in the forties.” Kaiti Kilpatrick shot her lowest round in high school competition, a 44; she parred all three par 5 holes! Mara Jessen and Jessie Noren each had success on several par 3s. Lauren Tandy was consistent and in the 40s. Our four varsity counters putted well, but Jessie Noren had a phenomenal 10 putts for her 9 hole round with two chip ins! That is the lowest number of putts for nine holes I can remember any V-S team member shooting during my tenure as coach! Williamsburg has one of the State’s lowest scoring teams; I was pleased we were not intimidated by their successes this season, but we came out and played well.
Brittany Grendler shot her first round in the 50’s and was the JV runner-up medalist. We did not have enough to have a JV team score. We saw improvement in our JV scores as well tonight.
Next up we host a triangular with Don Bosco and Clear Creek-Amana at the Vinton Country Club Thursday night.
