The wind was a huge factor for everyone at Van Horne this weekend as the second round scores came in a little higher as the winds picked up Saturday. The Vikings were among seven teams battling the winds at the Benton Invitational. The tournament was won by West Delaware with a 316 in the 18-hole event. Benton was second with 328 followed by Williamsburg with 329. The Vikings placed fourth with 337 followed by Clear Creek-Amana with 348, Independence with 367 and Center Point-Urbana with 404.

Clayton Larson of West Delaware was the first place medalist carding a 74. Benton Community had a good day with the 2nd and 3rd place medalists. Hunter Livermore shot 77 and Cam Touro shot 78. There was a tie for fourth place between Isaac Knock of Williamsburg and Bryce Frick of West Delaware both shooting 79.

Daniel Janssen of the Vikings had a very solid and consistent round, tying him for 6th place with Harrison Guetzko of West Delaware and Nolan Navara of Clear Creek-Amana all carding 80. Zach Buch of Williamsburg was 9th with 82 and 10th place was a tie with 83’s from Jackson Subbert of Williamsburg, Carter Frick of West Delaware, and Nick Steger of Independence.

The Viking will be in competition Thursday at the Vinton Country Club as they host Williamsburg and Independence. The Vikings have started their season 4-5. Other Viking Scores were: Tyler Stueck 84, Dylan Rippel 86, Grant Noren 87, Bryce Shaw 91 and Austin Carolus 94.
