Viking basketball player Nolan Sagan, a team leader in scoring and former KCRG-TV Athlete of the Week, will be recognized tonight for his academic achievements.

Sagan is among the players named to the 2014 Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State team. He and the rest will receive their honor during tonight's Class 2A State Championship game.

To earn this honor, a player must have at least a 25 ACT composite score, rank in the top 25 percent of their senior class, and have a GPA of at least a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. This year's honorees have an average ACT composite of 28.8 and an average GPA of 3.96 and also average 14.8 points per game. Andrew Thompson and Nate Woeste of Benton Community are also among this year's honorees.
