The Vinton-Shellsburg bowlers ended their regular season at Oelwein on Friday, where the varsity boys won again and the varsity girls exceeded their average by nearly 300 pins.

Jacob Bunge led the varsity boys team by shooting 233-245 for a season high 478.

"This was a great way to finish off our regular season," said Coach Amber Pattee. "After the two-game individual scoring, we were ahead by 74 pins and the team rallied to end the night beating the Huskies by 237 pins.

The Varsity girls bowled extremely well and beat their normal meet totals by almost 300 pins, said the coach.

"There was not one outstanding individual, there was an outstanding V-S team that worked well together."

The boys JV team also did very well. This team consisted of many bowlers that are new to the sport and I wanted to give them an opportunity to showcase what they have learned. They were led by Zach Uthoff 185-185 and Ricky Hunter 189-179.

The V-S team has improved in the Class 1A rankings, from 10th to seventh, after Friday's performance.

"It was an awesome job tonight to the whole V-S bowling team," said the coach.
