Lil Racer Clubhouse planning for the final two weeks at the Track

With the rainout tonight at the Bullring, the club has only two more weeks in operation at the track in 2021 planned.Next Sunday, the contents of our tan metal donation box, located on the front of the Lil Racer Clubhouse will be given at the end of the night to Cedar Valley Hospice, in memory of Crew Chief Mitch's father Glenn Swinton. His dad passed away 5 years ago, on August 15, 2016 on Mitch's mom's birthday.

Cops Take 1st "Pitches For Pins" Over V-S Wrestlers, 16-14

VPD's Wes Meyer follows the flight of his foul ball VINTON -- A big crowd filled the Vinton-Shellsburg baseball field grounds Saturday for the first "Pitches For Pins" fund-raiser for the VIking and Vikette wrestling programs. A team of local law enforcement faced off against members of the wrestling team -- along with a couple of "ringers" -- and while the wrestlers led most of the way, the cops came back to take a 16-14 victory; not that the outcome mattered that much.

Capitol to Corndogs Clean 5K Run Aug. 19

On Thursday, August 19th at 6:00 pm, the Green Runners of Des Moines will lead a run from the State Capitol to the Iowa State Fair, collecting trash along the way. The event is free and the first thirty runners to sign up will receive free admission to the State Fair and a free beverage from the Budweiser tent. This marks the 8th year the event has taken place.

Benton County Bullring Lil Racer Car Club OPEN for business Saturday at the Demo

The Benton County Speedway Bullring Lil Racer Car Club will be OPEN for business this Saturday night, August 7, for the Demo Derby at the track! Power Wheel registration begins at the clubhouse as soon as grandstand gates are opened, right up until 5:45 for the 6 PM start time trackside. All power wheel drivers are expected to sign a track waiver AND have their own helmet and power wheel.

Wreck ‘Em at the Ring demolition derby Saturday at The Bullring

A $10,000 purse is up-for-grabs this Saturday, August 7 in the Wreck 'Em at the Ring demolition derby at the Benton County Fairgrounds.Saturday's event, held in memory of Jerry "Mike Hahn" Stanley and Jamie Schuelka, features six divisions of competition, including Gut & Go, Powder Puff - Gut & Go, Limited Weld Midsize, Limited Weld Full Size, Mini Van/Mini Truck/Mini SUV, and Kids Power Wheels.

The Bullring Lil Racer Car Club has a BUSY weekend ahead!

The Lil Racer Car Club at the Benton County Speedway Bullring signed in 54 Lil Racers at the clubhouse Sunday for Autism Awareness Night. Each child when they registered received raffle tickets free, to deposit in buckets for wonderful gifts down by the Autism Awareness Raffle table, in addition to our weekly prize giveaways. Because of some wonderful supporters of the club, we gave away a LARGE remote control truck and two American Girl dolls, in addition to our other prizes.

2021 Summer Iowa Games Kicks Off with Virtual Opening Ceremony

The 2021 Summer Iowa Games presented by Grinnell Mutual is underway and will official kick off the main weekend festivities with a virtual Opening Ceremony sponsored by 3M, which will air on Friday, July 30 at 7 p.m. via the Iowa Games Facebook page and YouTube channel.This year's event will feature the National Anthem sung by world renowned opera singer and native Iowan, Simon Estes, along with the oath of athletes recited by Matt Campbell.
