It's been oddly interesting to watch the politics happening in Washington D.C. I have to admit I'm so burned out on politics that I haven't paid a ton of attention to the happenings. But the talk of the shutdown hits me odd. When there was a shutdown and the republicans were holding things up, I heard, "keep it shut down!" Now when the democrats are doing it, I hear, "how awful!"
Catherine Clark, a Democrat from Massachusetts, was speaking with an interviewer she explained the situation, I thought quite honestly. Now that's something you don't see in Washington D.C. She said, "Of course, there will be families that are going to suffer. But it is one of the few leverage times we have."
Simply put. I mean come on, we all know that this is literally "playing politics." We all know that the government will reopen, and we've given you time to play your part as the "serious party," we allowed time for your nonsense protests, now get back to work!
Mind you in all of this, the elected officials in Washington D.C. are getting their paychecks. The millionaires like Bernie Sanders are out there yelling about the "oligarchy" and how his coconspirators can't afford to go without a paycheck, but our military, can. After all, the military is only out there putting their actual lives on the line for us, so they don't need a paycheck - in his mind, but his poor co-workers that are in charge of this mess, are fine with causing the rest of the world pain.
Clark said it clearly, it's all about leverage. It has nothing to do with paychecks and passing the same bill they have 13 times already. It's about causing you pain so that they can get their way aka leverage.
Grow up. I'm tired of all of the elected toddlers throwing a tantrum when they don't get their way. No, folks, we don't have trillions of dollars laying around for your latest ideas. News flash, the country is trillions of dollars in the hole right now, and no one is getting serious about that.
So stop fooling around. Stop playing games. Put on the big boy and girl pants and get serious. Sit down at the table and start talking. This time instead of being good with causing Americans pain for your "leverage" let's get serious. Let's look at the American checkbook. The one in Washington D.C. and the one in my house, and everyone else's house.
Stop putting on a show and grow up. The party's over, it's time to act like adults. You signed the exact same bill 13 times. We get it, you now have "leverage" at OUR cost, and that doesn't bother you.
We get it. We really do.
