To the Editor, In case you forgot, a small portion of the Jan 6th insurrection. https://youtu.be/I3LjfmUDXbU
All of you who voted for Trump must be very proud of Trump pardoning 1500 January 6th felons some of which severely attacked police who were trying to protect the Capital from a primal attack by a crowd instigated by Trump. The rioters used any violent weapon they could find to pummel the police. When it was over 140 police officers were wounded many still carrying those scars today.
Below is a small sample of the felons that were released by Trump.
- · Daniel Joseph “DJ” Rodriguez, sentenced to 51 months, who can be seen on video, federal prosecutors said, deploying an “electroshock weapon” against a policeman, (Officer Michael Fanone) who was dragged out of the defensive line, by “plunging it into the officer’s neck”. Officer Fanone suffered a series of strokes after the event that resulted in him not be able to work as a Capital policeman again.
- · William Lewis, 37 months- “sprayed streams of Wasp and Hornet Killer spray at multiple officers on four distinct occasions.” Forcing several to “seek treatment for their eyes.”
- · Isreal Easterly, 30 months-blasted an officer “in the face with pepper spray at point-blank range,” after which the officer “collapsed and temporarily lost consciousness, which enabled another rioter to steal his baton.”
- · Thomas Casselman, 40 months- hit multiple officers “near their faces” with pepper spray.
- · Curtis Davis 24 months—punched two officers in the head. That night he filmed a video in he dragged: “Them knuckles right there from one of those mxxxxxfaces at the Capitol.”
- · Ronald McAbee, 70 months-hit an officer wearing “reinforced brass knuckle gloves,” and held an officer down on the ground as “other rioters assailed him causing a concussion.”
- · Michael Foy 40 months, brought a hockey stick with the TRUMP 2020 Flag attached, which he swung “over his head and downward at police officers as it he were chopping wood.
In addition:
· Logan James Barnhart was convicted of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to 36 months in prison.
· Robert Wayne Dennis was convicted of civil disorder, two counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings. He was sentenced to 36 months in prison.
· Vincent Gillespie was convicted of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers; civil disorder; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; and act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings. He was sentenced to 67 months in prison.
· Patrick Edward McCaughey was convicted of three counts of aiding or abetting or assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers, including one involving a dangerous weapon; obstruction of an official proceeding; interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building; and committing an act of violence in the Capitol Building or grounds. He was sentenced to 90 months in prison. Complete list https://www.newsweek.com/full-list-january-6-prisoners-released-2018097
J6 defendant Daniel Ball who had a previous conviction for strangulation, domestic violence, and for resisting law enforcement with violence, couldn’t even make it a day before being in custody again on federal charges of possessing a firearm as a felon. Ball was facing 12 charges including setting off an explosive device in the Capital tunnel. (https://www.thedailybeast.com/pardoned-jan-6-defendant-arrested-a-day-after-getting-break-from-trump)
In addition, the leaders of the Proud Boys, Enrique Tarrio, and Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, right-wing terrorist organizations were released. Rhodes was welcomed back at the Capital by a group of Republicans on Wednesday. Tarrio claimed it is time for retribution for anyone who held these criminals accountable. What do you think that means, January 6th 2.0??
On Hannity Wednesday night, Trump stated that it was too cumbersome to go over every case individually so he decided to release them all no matter the charge.
When a reporter asked Trump why someone like Daniel Rodriguez (first name above) should be released from prison for his vicious attack on Officer Michael Fanone, Trump questioned whether that was a commutation or a pardon, he was told it was indeed a pardon. Trump then said that they would be looking into it. Hate to tell Trump but once he pardoned them it is complete no looking back. The officers who have spoken out are now receiving violent death threats. Trump does not know or care who he has unleashed on the country.
Trump also said there is no other President that supports law enforcement more than he does. His actions speak otherwise. Trump does not care about law and order or backing the blue when he turned loose these violent criminals who attacked the police and desecrated the Capital. If you voted for Trump, you are complicit and don’t claim your surprise now that he did this. Trump has been saying for years that we would release these thugs and only because they were doing it for him and that is all that counts.
Out of respect for the police officers who were viciously attacked on Jan. 6, do not assert what I have written is false or fake news. Everything written can be corroborated as true. You may love Trump but you cannot claim Jan. 6th did not happen, police officers were not hurt and our Capital was not desecrated. I know there probably someone who will respond to this letter saying well what about the last administration to deflect from Trump. This is not about anyone other than Trump and his despicable actions. Defend that.
