Back in the good ol' days I had the chance to babysit one of my granddaughters from the time she was a few months old until she was I think three. Part of the babysitting included overnights. The time for bedtime stories and the little ditties that you sing to kids when you've run out of things to say.

One of those was the song, "There were 10 in the bed." It starts with 10 in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over. So they all roll over and one fell out there were nine in the bed and the little one said, roll over, roll over..." Well, I got down to two in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over..." when the granddaughter piped in and said, "But not too far!"

It kind of feels like that when it comes time for the Iowa Caucus. I can't even remember how many candidates we started with on the Republican side. The latest one that I remember leaving the race was Tim Scott who rolled over and fell out now there's DeSantis, Haley, Ramaswamy and, well the rest of 'em. Sure Chris Christy is still there like a headache that just won't go away. I kind of believe that the dude has too much money to still be in this race. Why? I have absolutely no idea.

We still have Asa Hutchinson left. Why? Just why? Then there's Doug Burgum that again, well, none of these three have enough name recognition to pull off a win. We had Ryan Binkley come through town, but he has less of a chance than Chris Christy.

We also have a new guy throwing his hat in the ring, a bit late, but let's entertain the idea. This guy's name is David Stuckenberg, an Air Force combat veteran.  I think he could just fly in on Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible helicopter, smile and wave to the crowd and we'd all vote for the guy, well the ladies would anyway.

Not having heard anything about the guy, I looked him up. He probably fits the republican mold, but trust me, his winning tactic would be just to do a Tom Cruise stunt, he's not a great speaker.

So that leaves us with Donald Trump. Love him or hate him, he'll be in the top two slots on caucus night. Quite frankly, I'm of the opinion now that if he doesn't go to the debates at least, he's out. Sure, you could say, "What about the 91 charges against him?" I think if we're all honest here, we all know that had he said nothing and not run for president again, there wouldn't be any court cases. But noooo, he just had to run again. He just can't help himself.

However, if he wins or loses, that will depend on the people that are never Trumpers, yet insist that they are Republicans. I find the alpha males lose other alpha males. It turns into somewhat of a contest, and that's not good.

It appears that DeSantis is slipping in the polls and I've heard that Nikki Haley is rising in the polls. I don't know, I'm still not impressed with any of them. We might as well bring in this guy, what's his name again? Oh, David Stuckenberg.
