Dear Editor,

Today I just saw that the average wage increase nationwide for 2023 is 4.6%. A St.Luke's hospital employee told me they only got a 2% raise. Really? With the shortage of healthcare workers?

Does it seem to anyone else the county employees received an overly generous raise this year? I think our supervisors need to be a little more responsible with our tax dollars. We are starting to look like the federal government, adding services and giving raises with little concern of the cost.

The auditor stressed to the supervisors that her office could handle the Human Resources tasks now, but the supervisors seem to ignore her attempt to be fiscally responsible and want to hire 1 or even 2 more employees. Does this make sense?Paula Happel

SJW May 10, 2023, 10:59 am Primmer did not take the auditor's recommendation about hiring, but on May 1 he questioned Seaman on the public health board recommendation about the structure of the public health department. "If you're not going to take the public health board recommendation, why did you ask for it?" And they voted against that recommendation! BTW, watch that meeting if you haven't already. Does Biersschenk have dementia or has he been sleeping through the meetings?
Corruption and double standards once again.
Also interesting that Primmers grandson resigned as weed commissioner already and Primmer not only did not recuse himself, he made the motion to accept the resignation!
