In answer to a rebuttal published in our great web news Vinton Today.

I think it is appropriate that each one of us take a step back and take the preverbal deep breath. I did not vote for President Obama in fact, I thought he was a massive mistake, and in my opinion he turned out to be a massive error in judgment by the voting public why on Earth would we expect a person with no more experience than that of a community organizer and one who instead of taking a position on state politics would vote Present -- to have the savvy to run a massive economic juggernaut that is the United States. But, the sun did come up the next day and every day thereafter. But still, we are living under the massive mistakes that came from errors in judgment on foreign policy and economic policy of those past eight years. That is my judgment very likely not those who criticize my opinion pieces. However, on the whole, I must say they do not write where my opinions are wrong, but criticize and slander my character. Political discourse is fine, but where am I in error?

The next item Donald Trump was not my first choice at our Caucus, Carly Fiorina was. But, mine was the only vote of 93 the most people ever at our Mt. Auburn - Bruce Caucus. However, Sharon, my partner of more than 50 years was in his camp from the beginning. As I have learned over the years of absent service in the Air Force and with Trans World Airlines, it is best to listen to her. As time has elapsed she was right on. And, as time has passed she is still a fervent supporter. I am as well and will vote for Pres. Trump in 2020 whether he is impeached or not! He is the best ever for the working middle class, law enforcement, and the Armed Forces. I am benefiting from the best economy in years and the lesser tax burden passed by the legislature and signed into law by President Trump.

I stated previously = impeachment is not warranted over a phone call. It is not unusual for Presidents in phone calls to other leaders to ask for favors or call attention to shortfalls on liberty, civil rights violations, corruption or other items of concern. I recall in one instance where Pres. Obama not knowing there was an open mike stated to a Russian official --- this is my last election tell Putin I will have more leave way after. --- Comment paraphrased. Obviously he was talking about relaxing sanctions against Russia. These things are done all to time we just do not know about them because for whatever reason they are not leaked.

John Stiegelmeyer

DL October 30, 2019, 6:37 pm Sir, why do you feel the need to bring up any shortcomings of other political leaders, when attempting to defend this current "president"?

You are correct that foreign policy decisions are commonly accompanied by a negotiation of things to the betterment of both parties. But, those parties benefiting, are ALWAYS the two countries. Not the individuals making the deal.

The only entity benefiting from Ukraine investigating an American citizen, was this "president".

He personally stopped the transfer of badly needed military aid, THAT WAS PASSED BY CONGRESS, and he was set to hold that aid, until President Zelenski agreed to initiate the investigation. It wasn't until the whistleblower complaint was demanded by The House of Representatives, that that aid was released to Ukraine.

If you believe that this phone call is the only reason that the impeachment investigation has taken place, then you're living in a different universe than the rest of us.

You might not even know about the scandal involving Lev Parnas. He's the Ukrainian-American that is said to be a member of Rudy Giuliani's team representing the "president". They say that he's on Giuliani's team, but the curious thing is that the only payment between the two, is a $500,000 payment from Parnas to Giuliani.

It turns out that Mr. Parnas has been an "employee" of some ten companies that have been expelled from the NYSE, for creating fraudulent companies, selling, or forcing people to purchase, worthless stock to citizens, to drive up the price. Then they would sell all of their artificially priced stock in the companies, and have *their* money wired to a fake check cashing business in New Jersey. The parent company, for all of these fake companies, was Euro-Atlantic. Every one of their entities have been expelled, separately, from the NYSE. They've been criminally charged for this. Among the list of defendants with Lev Parnas, is the Columbo Crime Family. That's Russian Mob.

He's currently being charged with several campaign finance violations, related to the 2016 Trump campaign. You can read all about his criminal life by googling his name.

He and his partner, Igor Fruman had dinner with Trump, at the White House, just days before they made an illegal donation to a Trump super PAC for $325,000.

As far as the tax cuts that you're so proud of. Do you remember that our country had an $800,000,000 fiscal deficit for the 2018 year? Well, we just had a $900,000,000+ fiscal deficit for the year of 2019. We will have to sell more bonds to China, to make up for that. The National Debt has gone up $5 trillion in the last 3 years. This "president" has had to hand out DOUBLE THE AMOUNT of the 2009 auto/bank bail-out, to our farmers. But, most of our Iowa family farmers aren't seeing any of that money. How can you be so proud of a tax cut, that is doing that to our country?

You probably don't know that this "president" has gutted the division of Homeland Security that helps keep our large events, in our country safe. Things like the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four in both football and basketball, The RNC and DNC Conventions, etc.... Are having to hire private security, because they are no longer getting help from Homeland Security.

I'm sure I've made this clear to you before, but The Mueller Report DID NOT say that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. In fact, it found over 100 instances of communications with Russia, during the campaign and transition. He just didn't find ENOUGH evidence to prove all elements required to prove conspiracy, beyond a reasonable doubt.

The report also showed 10 instances of Obstruction of Justice, that this "president" committed. He just couldn't make an indictment, because of the OLC opinion that the sitting "president" can't be indicted.

Going back to the phone call. Both the "president" and his chief of staff have admitted to the crime of Extortion.

So, just by these few examples (there are so many more), I don't see how anyone with any love for this country, can continue to support this administration.
RS October 31, 2019, 2:41 am Thank you, Darrin, for taking the time to provide accurate information on the corruption of this administration.

John, you stated in your letter that because no one has said specifically that you are wrong and that must mean you are right. Hey I will tell you, YOU ARE WRONG and I don't have to argue with you just watch what happens in the next few months. The truth will come out.
