Vinton—Helen Maxine (Kofoed) Moody, age 80, died peacefully Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a long illness.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Private committal services will be at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Helen Maxine Kofoed Moody was born March 24, 1931 in Vinton, Iowa, to Sigfred and Ida Johansson Kofoed. She attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1949. She married Charlys J. Moody and they later divorced. Helen worked for over forty years for Dr. Stanley and Dr. Alan Woodhouse as a dental assistant and receptionist. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Greenwood Chevrolet and at John’s Qwik Stop, retiring in 1994.

Helen enjoyed bowling, camping and being outdoors, playing cards, watching sports, feeding birds and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. However, her favorite activities were spending time with family and friends, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Jay H. and Kelly R. Moody, both of Vinton; daughter, Kristin D. (Moody) Sellers (David Roster), White Bear Lake, MN; grandchildren, Ariane (Josh) Geiger and Randy (Miranda) Sellers; great grandchildren, Allie, Jack and Charley and brothers, Ralph Kofoed, Vinton and Kenny (Mary) Kofoed, Marshalltown, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Vera Nelson and Della Kofoed and brother, Karl L. Kofoed.

A memorial fund has been established.
