Lorena Nadine Harting, 88 of La Porte City, died at her home on May 14, 2026. She was born December 22, 1937, in Jubilee Township, IA. daughter of Dale and Milderd (Jurgens) Abernathy. She graduated from La Porte City High School in 1956.

She married William L. "Bill" Harting on May 4, 1957, at the Zion Lutheran Church (Jubilee). Lorena was homemaker over the years, and she also helped as a bookkeeper for her son's trucking business, retiring in 2023. Over the years, she and Bill loved to travel on various excursions.

Lorena is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Harting of La Porte City. Two sons, Doug (Deb) Harting of La Porte City and Todd Harting of  Onamia, MN; daughter, Cheryl (Kevin) Harting  Dutler  of La Porte City; eight grandchildren,  Kylee  Harting,  SydniHarting, Dakota Harting, Brandi (Brent)  Pecenka, Justin (Jenai) Dutler, Lauren Martin, Veronica Harting, Chase (Samantha) Harting and five great-grandchildren,  Alyza, Owen, Eli, Zara and Rayleigh; and half siblings, Mike (Darla) Abernathy, Tom (Ann) Abernathy, and Karen (Bill) Morrison, David (Eileen) Fisher and Terry Fisher.

A public visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Locke in La Porte City.
