Obituaries : Gary Hepker

Gary Hepker, 78, passed away April 29, 2026 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.

A private burial for family will be held at a later date.

Gary was born October 17, 1947, to Merle and Eileen (Miller) Hepker in Urbana, Iowa. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966. He worked at Farmstead Meat Packing House for about 25 years.

Gary loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Urbana American Legion Post 264.

Gary is survived by his sister, Velda (Bruce) Feuerbach; his niece, Lisa (Steven) Biery; his nephew, Mike Feuerbach (Angie Mikkelson); great nephews, Clayton and Jace; Great nieces, Lauren, Brianna (Justin), Julia, and Madelynn; and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Eileen; and his nephew, Jeff Feuerbach.
