Dorothy Lynn Pickart, 89, of Norway, IA passed away April 24, 2026, at Colonial Manor, Amana, IA.

Dorothy was born June 27, 1936, the daughter of Ralph and Fannie Martin Robinson of Blairstown, IA. She graduated from Blairstown Consolidated School in 1954 On July 20 1954, Dorothy married William ‘Pepper’ Pickart at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Norway.

Dorothy was employed by the Amana Meat Shop, and then by Norway Community Schools from 1963 to 1967 as a secretary and from 1973 to 1984 as an assistant librarian.  Throughout the years, Dorothy loved sewing clothes, knitting, crocheting and doing plastic canvas knitting, including making many wall hangings and Christmas ornaments. She loved playing bingo, going to the casinos and various craft shows.  She also loved traveling the country and taking cruises with her daughter.  She especially loved the many trips they took to Las Vegas and Omaha, as least once a year, but favorite trip was a cruise to Alaska.

She was a caring person who cherished being with her family including her beloved cats — or as she called them, her fur babies!  She was also an avid sports fan, who loved going to baseball games, as well as supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy of Norway; sister, Sharon O’Brien of Hiawatha, nieces, Sandy (Dennis) Schrader of Norway, Susie (Larry) Woods of Oelwein; Lee (Ila) Brecht of Carlisle; cats, Monte and Piper along with many more family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William (2002); sisters, Gwen and Lavonne; cats, Shadow,Nemo, Zoey and Tazz.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Norway. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Norway Fire Department, Norway American Legion or a charity of your choosing.
