Obituaries : Dorothy Marie Dee

Dorothy Marie Dee, 79, of Alburnett, passed away at her home on March 14, 2026. 

 Services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Veritas Church in Cedar Rapids (509 3rd St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401).

Dorothy was born in Cedar Rapids on September 25, 1946, to Paul and Bernice (Sidlinger) Reid. She graduated from Independence High School in 1964. She worked as a custodian and building engineer for Cedar Rapids School District for 20 years and Farmstead for 24 years.

Dorothy loved gardening. She loved babysitting her grandchildren, spending time with family, and going on trips. She loved thrifting, garage sales, and estate sales.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Lynn (Jeff) Roggentien of Cedar Rapids, Kevin (Angela) Dee of Cedar Rapids, and Tina (Brian) Bemer of Alburnett; her grandchildren, Stacy (Trevor) Jack, Josh Roggentien, Megan Overly, Emily Overly, Rachel Bemer, and Ben Bemer; her great-granchildren, Nolan Jack, Myla Jack, and Oaklynn Sandoval; and her siblings, Mary Ames, and Euniece (Jim) Rodenburgh.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bernice; her brother, Kenny Reid; and her sisters, Phylis Dykstra, and Louis Peyton.
