Connie attended Illinois State University and graduated from Paris Cosmetology. She married Vernon McClintock on December 10, 1966, at the Marion Presbyterian Church. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Connie worked at a salon in Cedar Rapids early in her career and owned salons in Palo, Shellsburg, and Vinton. She also owned the Rubideau Tea Room and Eatery in Palo. Connie was a cook at Wildcat Golf Course in Shellsburg where prime rib was her specialty. Connie had a servants heart, and loved to help others. She worked for many years serving meals for Vinton and Shellsburg Presbyterian Churches. She catered parties for graduations, wedding receptions, birthdays– it really didn’t matter-she loved to cook for special events. She was a member of the Vinton Garden Club and the Red Hat Ladies. She was nominated for the 150 special women during the Vinton sesquicentennial celebration. Connie’s true passion was being a farmer’s wife and raising her kids. She loved the outdoors, bird watching, gardening, crafting, and sewing. Connie loved football, and basketball, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and any music event, but in particular Neil Diamond. She was a member and later a leader of 4-H clubs and judged throughout the state.
She is survived by her husband Vernon; and three children, Mindy (Becky Schneider) McClintock of Vinton, Christa McClintock of Van Meter, and Jonathan McClintock of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her infant sister, Kathleen.
