William "Bill" Terry Jelinek, 68, of Shellsburg, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton, with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the funeral home.

 Bill is survived by his wife, Stephanie Jelinek; three children, Abby (Joe) GirschSamantha Jelinekand Nathan (Rusti Penrod) Jelinek; six grandchildren: Hallie, Grant, Joanna, Rayden, Zoey, and Drake;  his brother, Dave Jelinek; his sister, Jill Taylor; his niece, Megan Taylor; his favorite furry friend, Lola; and several other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his nephew, Matthew Taylor.

Bill was born September 21, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Cledythe "Kelly" (Ruff) Jelinek. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. On September 20, 1986, he was united in marriage to Stephanie Robinson at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton.

Bill worked as a laborer with his most recent employment at Paltech, Urbana. Outside of work, Bill was known as a self-proclaimed music "freak" with an endless love for all kinds of music. Bill enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture, finding satisfaction in creating and restoring with his hands.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him so much laughter and pride. A true sports fan, Bill loved fast-pitch softball, playing golf, and cheering on his beloved Minnesota Vikings.
