James Arthur Billings was born on June 15, 1937, in Omaha, NE the son of Arthur Louis and  Helen Marie (Brueggemann) Billings.  On October 26, 1984, he married Peggy Mehrhoff.  A  great portion of Jim ¢â‚¬â„¢s life was spent running his two printing businesses Bye and Bye in  Holstein, IA and Green Tree Graphics in Vinton, IA alongside his wife.  In his free time Jim  enjoyed building and driving his own drag racing cars.  Jim was also an animal lover,  especially dogs and cats.  He also enjoyed traveling to many places with Peggy.  In addition  to these activities Jim was also a diehard Nebraska Cornhuskers fan.  Jim was an active  member of Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Vinton. He proudly served as a church elder  for many years and Sunday School Superintendent for a time. Jim also a served as a  member of the board of directors at the Vinton Lutheran Home.  
Jim passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2025, at the age of 88 at the Vinton Lutheran Living  Communities.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  
Jim is survived by daughter Katherine Lorenzen of Ogden, Utah; his sons David (Susan)  Billings of Dayton, OH, Timothy (Deb) Billings of Ida Grove, IA and Steven (Julea) Billings of  Port Orchard, WA; his granddaughter Amy (Michael) Jessen and many other grandchildren  and his close friend Brian (Jen) Kreutner.      
Memorial may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Missionary Program.  
Visitation: Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at Trinity Lutheran Church  (LCMS), 1002 E. 13th St., Vinton.    
Funeral Service: Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church (LCMS),  1002 E. 13th St., Vinton  
Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
