Carsyn Sidni Peters, 21, of Waterloo, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Carsyn was born on May 23, 2004, in Waterloo, to Chad and Carrie (Plum) Peters. She graduated from Benton Community High in 2022.

Carsyn's love for the arts shined brightly through her passion for drawing and photography-she loved to take photos of nature and appreciated the beauty in her surroundings. Carsyn spent many years taking dance lessons and was in the Marching Band and Color Guard in High School. She will be missed fiercely by her kitty, Moose, who she showered with endless love and affection just as she did with all animals (except for mice!) Prior to working at Kwik Star, Carsyn worked at Carlos O'Kelly's for several years in both Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. Carsyn could not resist her mama's cooking and a good sushi roll.

If you knew Carsyn, you knew her vibrant smile and contagious laugh, how well she gave hugs, how much she cared for those she loved, and the compassion she felt for every living being.

She is preceded in death by both paternal and maternal great-grandparents, and maternal grandpa, Ron Plum

Carsyn's light is left to shine brightly in her mom, Carrie Plum Peters of Waterloo; dad, Chad (Jennifer) Peters of Atkins; brothers, Cameron and Caden Peters both of Waterloo; step-siblings, Caleb Slouha, Lauren (Jade) Potter, Delaynee Slouha, and Sloane Slouha all of Atkins; maternal grandma, Karen Plum of Waterloo; paternal grandparents, Scott (Linda) Peters of Shellsburg, Georjanne (Arthur) Akerson of San Tan Valley, AZ and Butch (Jan) Hausladen of Hutchinson, MN; aunts & uncles, Jessica Plum, David Plum, Dina Plum all of Waterloo, Dan (Gabriella) Peters of Buda, TX, Dave (Charlotte) Peters of Berlin, Germany, Lee (Nikki) Akerson of Gilbert, AZ, Shawn Marie (Ray) Whitlow of Queen Creek, AZ, Michael (Heather) Akerson of Ahwatukee, AZ; Tim (Kristin) Davis of Quincy, IL, and Sara Davis of Portland, OR; and many cousins.

Family hosted Celebration of Life Service to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with a gathering to follow until 4:00 p.m. at Hope City Church, 118 High St, Waterloo. The Peters Family kindly asks that you wear vibrant colors to honor Carsyn.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to Alive and Running Iowa and Better Together Animal Rescue.
