Brenda Kotouc, 74, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, passed away after a long cancer journey, Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

She was born in Vinton, Iowa in 1951 to Ralph and Clarice (Karr) Lilja. While she lived many years in Arkansas, her heart was always at "home" in Vinton. She had a happy childhood and many fond memories of so many friends and classmates, as well as family.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Clarice Lilja, brother David Lilja, and many more. She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Kotouc, and grandchildren, Jeremiah and Morgan Wachtel of Arkansas, as well as extended family and friends.

Brenda met her former spouse of 29 years, Ralph Kotouc, in her high school years, while cruising around Vinton. She stole his shoe while he was at the car wash after some time of flirting. He chased her down for his shoe, and so it began. They married in the fall of 1969 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton. Years later, they remained friends and stayed connected with their daughter and grandchildren.

Stephanie Kotouc was their only daughter. Brenda's two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Morgan Wachtel, were spoiled and adored beyond measure. Brenda's favorite role was that of Grandma. She treasured their time together always. As they moved into adulthood, they still made time for weekly visits. They were the loves of her life, as she would tell others.

Brenda worked at the Bank of Bentonville (now Arvest) as a teller, and later in loan operations, and retired after 26 years. She remembered everyone and their pets, families and more during her years at the teller line. She was adored by so many in the community she served, coworkers, neighbors and friends. She never met a stranger.

Brenda will always be remembered for her open arms, warmth and care, and sometimes wild and fun ways. She could surprise you with some quick wit and jokes, even through the end. She loved to dance, and wanted to be remembered fondly from her days of energy and spunk. We couldn't have asked for a better parent/grandparent, and will miss her every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

Her wishes regarding a memorial service, were for a small informal family celebration of life to spread her ashes. Condolences and memories may be sent to her daughter and grandchildren, if you feel moved to do so. (2533 Turner Way, Pea Ridge, AR 72751)

PJ July 11, 2025, 7:15 pm Brenda was a bright light in this world. I will miss her laughter and hugs. We worked together for years as tellers at the Bella Vista branch. I learned so much about how to make customers feel special from her.. .she was loved by all her customers and they would bring their children who lived out of town to meet their favorite teller. Brenda and I would lose touch from time to time but always picked up on our friendship right where we left off. She loved her family and I know they will miss her terribly. My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends. Till we meet again my friend your memory will remain.
