Marilyn J. Lee, 88, of La Porte City, died Saturday, April 12, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. She was born July 20, 1936, in Clarksville, the daughter of Ewald and Minnie Lindeman Klunder. She attended Clarksville Community School.
Marilyn married James R. Lee on April 22, 1955, at the United Church of Christ in Clarksville.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City, where she served on many committees and was an active volunteer; a past member of La Porte City American Legion Auxiliary Post #207; and a volunteer for the La Porte City Senior Center.
Marilyn enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and traveling, and she avidly loved sports.
She is survived by her husband, James of La Porte City; two sons, Randall (Debra) Lee of Cedar Falls, Brian (Erin) Lee of Montezuma; a daughter, Cheryl (Scott) McLaughlin of Vinton; seven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother Allyn (Lori) Klunder of Nevada and a sister, Joan Bartlett of Clarksville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Brandon T. Lee, and a brother-in-law, Myron Bartlett.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City with inurnment in the West View Cemetery. Memorial Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, at the American Lutheran Church, 801 Monroe St. La Porte City, Iowa 50651.
Memorials may be directed to the family, where a memorial fund will be established.
