VINTON- Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy "Dottie" Jean Osborn Anthony Anderson, 90, a beloved member of the Vinton community, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Hans Poetschner officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, at the church. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Dottie and her family.
Dottie was born November 11, 1934, in Council Bluffs, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Bachelor) Osborn. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. As a lifelong learner, Dottie continued her education at Coe College, University of Nebraska, UNI, and Kirkwood. On August 26, 1955, Dottie was united in marriage to Sherman "Tony" Anthony, MD, at Grace Presbyterian Church, Council Bluffs. He preceded her in death in 2012. On December 28, 2013, she married John Anderson at the Vinton Country Club.
Dottie found joy in fishing, music, playing games, and spending time with her dear friends at the Vinton Country Club. She was a devoted member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for many years. She was a compassionate leader who cared deeply for her community, always leading by example. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Left to cherish Dottie's memory are her husband, John; daughters: Julie (Brian) Knudsvig, Jennifer (Jim) Palmer, Ann (Grant) Forrester, and Jody (Roy) Berces; son, Craig (Linda) Anderson; ten cherished grandchildren; six precious great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and a special son, Nick (Nicholas) Camenisch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman "Tony" Anthony; son, Lane Anthony; brother and sister-in law, Charles (Marilyn) Osborn, Jr.; and sister, Hazel Osborn.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Anthony Nurses Scholarship, the Vinton Public Library, or the Vinton Ambulance Service.
