Jacqueline ¢â‚¬Å“Jackie ¢â‚¬ Kay Peterson, 83, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.  Memorial services  will be held at 11:00 a.m.,  Tuesday, October 1, at Central Presbyterian Church, Newhall, with Pastor DanielSanford as officiant.  Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the church,  on  Tuesday.  Burial will be in St. Patrick  Cemetery, Fairfax.  Van  Steenhuyse-Teahen  Funeral Home, Vinton, is caring for Jackie and her family.

Jackie was born September 9, 1941, in Carroll,  IA,  the daughter of Doyle and June (Picht) Miller.  She attended grade school in  Moingona, IA, and graduated in 1959 from Boone High School.  On November 2, 1960, Jackie was united in marriage to Richard ¢â‚¬Å“Dick ¢â‚¬ Peterson in Luther, IA.  Two years later they moved to their home in Fairfax, IA, where they embraced their love of living in the country.

Throughout her life, Jackie touched many lives through her in-home daycare, cleaning services, Sunday School teaching,  and  her devotion to God.  Her favorite past  times  were  spent  caring for animals with Dick, working  in her flower and vegetable gardens  and  canning (especially lime pickles), baking,  keeping in touch with her  lifelong friends through letters and phone calls, and  spending time with her family.  Jackie was  a  devout Christian  who shared her love of the Lord with all she met and had a gift of blossoming friendships with strangers instantly.

Left to cherish Jackie ¢â‚¬â„¢s memory are her daughters: Shannon (Bill) Mullan and Shelly (Rod) Kelsey; grandchildren: Hannah Mullan, Jenna Mullan and Dillon Kelsey; sisters: Nikki (Ron) Pentico and Kathi Berns;  nieces, nephews,  her loving cat, Missy; and  a multitude of extended family and friends who held a special place in her heart.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents  and her  husband of 40 years.  All who knew her will honor her memory by continuing to share her life story of strength and  unabiding  faith in God.

A memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Gardens aides and nurses and Hospice of Mercy for their wonderful care of Jackie.
