Dana Beth Lane, 61, of Vinton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown, surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, from 4-7 pm at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home in Vinton. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 12, at 10:30 am at Blessed Hope Church in Vinton.
Dana was born April 26, 1963 in Newton, Iowa to Keith and Maribelle (Main) Hesson. The youngest of five children, she and her family moved to Vinton in 1969, from where she graduated high school in 1981. Following high school, Dana moved back to Newton and attended Marshalltown Community College for one year, where she began her career as a bank teller. In 1996, she met Tom Lane, whom she married May 30, 1998 at the Vinton Presbyterian Church. Together, they moved back to Vinton and adopted Jenna Li from China in July 2001, when Jenna was 13 months old. Dana worked as a bank teller at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust in Vinton from 1998 until 2008, when she medically retired due to chronic health conditions. This allowed Dana to be extremely active in Jenna's life and her many activities, as well as volunteering at Tilford Elementary School for many years alongside her mother, Maribelle. She enjoyed spending time with family, fellowshipping at church, taking family vacations, and watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right.
For almost the entirety of her adult life, Dana dealt with many different health struggles, which at times were very serious. Despite this, she never complained; everything Dana did was done with love and a smile on her face. She dedicated her life to Jesus, her family, and her friends, especially doting on her only child, whom she was extremely close with. While she will be deeply missed, we take solace in knowing that we'll see her again.
Dana is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Jenna; Tom's sons: Eric (Jennifer) and Jon (Crystal); siblings, Diane Hesson, Kevin (Deb) Hesson, Karen (Steve) Helms, sister-in-law, Rose Hesson; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and her beloved puppy dog, Tula.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Craig Hesson; nephew, Nathan Hesson; and nephew, Shaun Hesson.

Sympathy to Tom, Jenna, and the family.
I remember how compatible Dana, and Maribelle, were together, in so many activities. Prayers and hugs.
