Terry Lee Merchant, 67 passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.

Terry was born on October 29, 1956 in Vinton to Elsie and Carl Merchant. Terry's mother passed away at his birth and Terry was adopted and raised by Willard and Mildred Merchant.

Terry enjoyed listening to music, watching old movies, and old tv shows. He had a huge collection of DVD movies, and C.Ds. He loved playing cards, especially the game 500. He even tried to get away with saying "time to spade the garden", he wanted to play cards up until the last four weeks of his life. He was always ready to help his neighbors and relatives when something needed to be done, even though Terry didn't see his family members often, he was always interested in what they were doing. Each of them had a very special place in his heart.

Terry is survived by his brother, Derald Merchant, and his three sisters, Joan (Harold) Wright, Karen (Bill) Satterlee, and Amber (John) Jacobson; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Mildred Merchant, his birth parents Carl and Elsie Merchant, one sister, Cheryl Merchant (Sutton), and two brothers Donnie and Dale Merchant.

There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the Vinton Lutheran Home (1301 Second Avenue).

The family of Terry would like to send a thank you in appreciation for his care to the staff at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, and to the nurses and staff at Vinton Lutheran Home.
