Garry B. Krutzfeldt, 84, passed away, surrounded by family on Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery, with light refreshments to follow at the church. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Tuesday also at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Garry was born July 2, 1939, in York Township, Tama County the son of Wilbert and Virginia (Wieben) Krutzfeldt. He graduated from Keystone High School, with the class of 1957. Garry also graduated from Cedar Rapids Business College in 1958. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Selken on June 7, 1959, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keystone, and they were happily married for almost 65 years.
Garry was the office manager at Funks G Hybrids in Belle Plaine until the plant closing in 1994. He continued to serve his customers in seed sales until 2020, retiring at the age of 80.
A man of deep faith, Garry was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council and helped with staff & facilities at the church. He also served as a board member for Benton Mutual Insurance. Gary loved to work and socialize with people, sharing his dry sense of humor with others.
Garry is survived by his wife Rosemary of Keystone; sons David (Jane Capps) Krutzfeldt of Oskaloosa and Douglas (Denise Burmeister) Krutzfeldt of Solon; grandchildren Stephen (Nicole) Krutzfeldt, Samuel (Bethany) Krutzfeldt, Ben Farnsworth, Hannah (Aharon) Moody, and Ben Krutzfeldt; and great grandchildren Matilda Krutzfeldt, Howard and Walter Krutzfeldt, and Andrew and Logan Moody, and his sister-in-law Carole Selken (Dennis) Henley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
