With the presence of her loving daughters, Lela "Lee" Campbell, 99, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, following a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.

Lee was born June 7, 1924, in Central City, NE, the daughter of George and Clara (Allen) Kurtz. She attended grade school in Harford, NY, and high school in Marathon, NY, graduating in 1940. On February 22, 1943, Lee was united in marriage to Daniel Campbell in Los Angeles, CA. Daniel preceded her in death in 1993. While a resident in Iowa, Lee attended UNI in Cedar Falls and earned her BA in Liberal Arts. She was employed as a secretary for various businesses, with her last position as a secretary for Benton County Mental Health Clinic in Vinton.

Lee was a proud member of the Democratic Party, an advocate for women's rights, a camping participant of the Loners on Wheels RV Club, and loved to dance whenever possible.

Left to cherish Lee's memory are her daughters: Alinda Wengenroth of Inver Grove Hts., MN and Kathleen Campbell of Indianapolis, IN; and grandsons: Alex and Scott Wengenroth.

Preceding Lee in death were her parents; husband, Daniel; and her siblings.

A memorial fund has been established.

BA October 15, 2023, 7:36 pm I will remember your mom as she was a sweet person. She always made me halloween treats growing up. I shared lots of smiles and laughs with your mom. She was a sweet friend She will be missed by me. I am sad she is gone but is smiling at us from heaven. Thinking of you in the days to come
