Obituaries : Lois Greaves

Lois Greaves, 68, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her home in Sioux City.

Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Morningside Assembly of God Church in Sioux City. Pastor Johnny Helton will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday and following the service during a time of lunch and fellowship, all at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Assembly of God World Mission Fund.

Lois Ann Cunningham, the daughter of Hubert and Lucille (Zimpfer) Cunningham, was born on February 6, 1955, in Troy Mills, Iowa. She attended school and graduated from North Lynn High School. Following high school, she attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. While there, she met her future husband, Ted Greaves.

They were united in marriage on May 31, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Springfield for 6 years while Ted continued education at Central Bible College. After college, they traveled for a few years with her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tom Greaves, singing in their gospel group, "Living Apostles". Lois played the piano for the group. They then lived in Vinton, Iowa, Cherokee, Iowa, and Perry, Iowa, while Ted was serving as a minister. In 1986, they settled in Le Mars. Lois ran an in-home daycare for over 25 years until her retirement. They moved to independent living in Sioux City in 2019.

Lois was a member of Morningside Assembly of God Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed playing piano for many years. She also enjoyed making homemade cards and sending them to family, friends, and shut ins. She loved to bake. She made sugar cookies for every holiday and wrapped them up neatly for many to enjoy.

Survivors include her husband, Ted Greaves of Sioux City; a son, Tyronne (Rebecca) Greaves of Sioux City, IA, and their children, Olivia and Owen; a son, Tim (Angela) Greaves of Apache Junction, AZ, and their children, Avery, Evan, Isaiah, and Ella; a daughter, Tiffany Greaves (Patrick Louisell) of Le Mars, IA; 3 sisters: Faith Lee of Des Moines, IA, Virginia (Loren) Staton of Troy Mills, IA, and Shirley (Tom) Greaves of Burlington, IA; her in laws: Leroy Greaves of Buffalo, WY, Karen Ide of Minot, ND, Susan (Duane) Evenson of Mesa, AZ, Mark (Marilyn) Greaves of TX, Joey Greaves of Williston, ND, Roxanne (David) Johnson of Williston, ND, Jeff (Heide) Greaves of Crosby, ND, and Donna (Sam) Mullins of Idaho; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Cunningham; and her in laws, Jim Lee, Gael Greaves, and Darla Greaves.
