Dale William Schluter, 90, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11th, 2023 at Belle Plaine Specialty Care following a short illness.

Dale was born in Koszta, Iowa on December 1st, 1932 to Henry William and Anna Mary (Chekal) Schluter. He enjoyed growing up on their family farm in Koszta and sharing memories of his childhood.

He was a proud Veteran and served in the U.S. Army as an Army Field Wire Technician for two years from 1953-1955. He spent his working career in accounting, sales, and as a business owner. He retired in 1994.

Dale was an avid fisherman and spent many summers at Lake Vermillion in northeastern Minnesota where he enjoyed fishing for walleye and created some wonderful friendships which he cherished deeply. He also enjoyed gardening at the farm where he grew up in Koszta, cooking, reading, watching the Chicago Bears, and spending time with his loved ones.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nephews, Bob (Claire) Brecht of Gilbert, Randy (Lori) Brecht of Middle Amana, and Ron (Leanne) Brecht of Koszta; niece, Lori (David) Smith of West Des Moines; in addition to many great and great-great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert (Jean) Schluter and Donald (Dorothy) Schluter; sisters, Francis Schluter and Darlene (LeRoy) Brecht, nephew, LeRoy Brecht Jr.; and niece, Linda Brecht.

Dale will be remembered for his fiery spirit and the ability to always make his family and friends laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Memorial Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Private family burial will take place at Koszta Cemetery, Koszta, IA with military honors. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralhome.com
