Richard "Dick" Lewis Grimm 87 of Garrison, IA passed away surrounded by loving family on May 8th, 2023 at the Vinton Lutheran Home.

Services will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1206 C Ave, Vinton, IA 52349 on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 with visitation from 2 pm to 4 pm and service at 4 pm, officiated by Pastor Anne Williams.

Dick was born at home in Garrison on August 5th, 1935 to parents Thornton and Meana (Ehlers) Grimm.

He graduated from Garrison High School in 1952 at the age of 16. Dick was once asked to give an oral report in front of the class, and since he had neglected to write the report, stood with a blank piece of paper.  He gave such a great report that the teacher gave him an A+ and asked for a copy!

Dick was united in marriage to Elsie Neve, June 3rd, 1956 at the Garrison United Methodist Church.

He operated Grimm Oil Company in Garrison along with his father and brother, Robert Grimm.

Dick enjoyed bowling, especially at Berry's Lanes in Vinton and was an accomplished bowler. He was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a car enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Grimm of Garrison, three children, Julie (John) Lindahl of Vinton, Sherie (Greg) Thompson of Cedar Rapids and Lance (Kari) Grimm of Castle Rock, CO, his brother, Robert (Carol) Grimm of Vinton, his grandchildren: Jenae (Tim) Manos of Cedar Rapids, Joye (Coleman) Moore of Palo, Jaimie Lindahl (Jerrad Burian) of Cedar Rapids, Kelsie (Matt) Clark of Cedar Rapids, Lacie (Caleb) De Souza of Cedar Rapids, Jordan (Kelsey) Grimm of Parker, CO, Jade (Omid) Salaami of La Jolla, CA, Kyle Thoreson of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Thoreson of Wilton. 11 great grand-children with twins on the way as well as much loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, Kim Grimm and a great-grandson Beckham De Souza.

The family wishes to thank the Vinton Lutheran Home and St Luke's Hospital Cedar Rapids for their excellent care and compassion.

Dick's family loved him deeply and will miss him very much!
