Scott Alan Schallau, age 54, died Saturday, January 28, 2023, from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Van Horne, with Rev. Craig Steimel as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Keystone Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the church in Van Horne. A memorial fund has been established to be used for a scholarship fund for Scott's future grandchildren.

Scott was born on November 21, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Stephen and Joann (Heitman) Schallau. Scott graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1987 and attended the University of Northern Iowa. On June 3, 1995, he was united in marriage to Stephanie Miller at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne. He was employed in sales at Sunline Inc. in Cedar Rapids.

Scott worked for many years as a mechanic and technician with his father Steve and sister Darcy at Schallau Motors in Van Horne, a family-owned Ford dealership for over 100 years. He truly loved his time at the family dealership. Scott had a deep love for the girls in his life…, wife, Steph and daughter, Shelby. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was an excellent golfer, playing his entire life at Tara Hills Country Club, near Van Horne. Scott loved to tinker with anything with an engine, including motorcycles, snowmobiles, and cars. He could often be found with his canine companion Oakley.

Survivors include his wife Stephanie of Keystone; daughter, Shelby (Spencer) Pink of Waukee; parents, Stephen and Joann Schallau of Van Horne; sister, Darcy (Gary) Kearns of Van Horne; in-laws Jean (Bob) Ohlen of Blairstown, Larry Miller of Wapello; nieces and nephews, Kelsey Kearns, Jordan (Caila) Kearns, Thomas, Alyssa, and Sam Seboldt, Gabby, and Jack Hobbs, Nataly, and Taylan Miller; and many other close family and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ebby and Irene Schallau, and Donald, and Dorothy Heitman.
